Mayfair Bakery and Patisserie is synonymous with Port Adelaide. Mayfair’s origins date back to 1870, when soon to be elected Mayor of Port Adelaide David Bower (1812-1898), commissioned and built what is now known as the Bower Buildings. In this group of heritage shop fronts, Mayfair Bakery and Patisserie was founded and continues to operate as a bakery after 150 years of trading.
Mayfair Bakery and Patisserie is presently and has always been, a proudly South Australian family owned and operated business. In 150 years, Mayfair has seen an ever-changing landscape, from the use of the ports, Australian outlaws, 2 world wars, the Great depression, the GFC, Spanish Flu and most recently the coronavirus pandemic. In a forever changing world, Mayfair has remained a favourite at home in Port Adelaide.
